SUPREME COURT UPHOLDS WHAT CHURCH HOLDS AFTER DECLINING THE SAME SEX MARRIAGE IN THE COUNTRY

Manila Auxiliary Bishop Broderick Pabillo uttered that the Supreme Court made a right decision for declining the Same Sex Marriage in the Phillipines.

“Our country faces so many problem like poverty, unemployment, conflicts experienced by the OFWs and climate change”, Bishop Pabillo said in an interview, convincing the government and public to focus on mentioned societal issues.

Cubao Bishop Honesto Ongtioco supported the statement of Pabillo, stating that regardless of what the states amend, church will always be on the right path of molding individuals into a Christ-centered values and morality.

However, Father Melvin Castro of the Diocese of Tarlac said, “….that joy is incomplete since the SC noted that the Philippine Constitution does not explicitly prohibit same sex union.”

To add on to that, he said that it helps us realize to be vigilant all the time after knowing that Supreme Court denied the legalization of the same-sex marriage in December 2019.

In yesteryear of 2015, Atty. Falcis asked the SC to reiterate the Family Code which focuses on the limits of the marriage between man and woman as being unconstitutional after finding out that there is no substantial argument presented that would warrant the final decision of the Supreme Court.

Despite this, it is clear now that the norms in acknowledging the significant role of the family in the community and nation building was manifested by what the Supreme Court has decided.
